Armed Security Guard Training in Wyoming

Presently there aren’t state regulations in place for security guards in Wyoming according to the Attorney General’s office. However, city or county levels may have their own requirements, in which case you should contact your local police station or City Clerk’s office. Additionally, a weapon permit and firearm training may also be required. The company that hires you may also have basic criteria that you must meet.

Standard requirements for Armed Security guards across state lines:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • United States citizen or legal alien
  • No felony convictions or any crime involving the illegal use of weapons
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting
  • Pass drug testing
  • Good moral character

An armed security guard in Wisconsin must be registered and obtain a firearm permit. The Wisconsin Department of Regulation & licensing office regulates the licensing of armed guards. Before registration and firearms permit can be issued, there are certain criteria that must be met.

Armed Security Guard Training in West Virginia

In West Virginia, an armed security guard either works as an individual or is hired by a security company, either way you must obtain a license. Licensing is regulated by The West Virginia Secretary of State’s office. Before a license is issued, there are certain criteria that must be met.

Armed Security Guard Training in Texas

Armed security guards in Texas must be registered and employed with a security agency. You must obtain a weapons permit in addition to your registration card. After all requirements are met, the Texas Department of Public Safety will administer all licenses and permits.

Armed security guards in New Jersey must be licensed. In addition, additional training, which includes firearms training, is required. After all requirements are met, license is administered by the New Jersey Superintendent’s office.

Armed Security Guard Training in Nevada

Armed security guards in Nevada must have a registration card and pass the security guard exam with a score of 100%. In addition, additional training, which includes firearms training, is required. After all requirements are met, the Private Investigating Licensing Board (PILB) will issue your registration card and firearms permit.

Security Guard Exam

This exam must be taken every five years with a passing score of 100%. Either you can take it online to submit with your application or the hiring security company will administer the exam.

You must complete all fields. If a field does not apply to you then you must put “N/A” as an indicator that you have read the field and it does not apply to you. Application is incomplete unless all required information is submitted to the office of the PILB.

Firearms Training

Upon completion of your firearms training, with a certified instructor, you will be administered a firearms certification card. Card is valid for five years as long as you pass a firing range test with a score of at least 75% every six months.

Armed security guards in Illinois must be licensed. In addition, additional training, which includes firearms training, is required. After all requirements are met, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation will issue your license.

Training Requirements

You must successful complete 20 hours of training which covers the basic responsibilities of an armed guard, laws and regulations of Illinois, ethics, writing reports, dealing with the public etc.

Firearms Training

In addition to the 20 hours listed above, you must successfully complete 20 hours of firearms training, which includes handgun safety, handling your weapon and time on the fire range. Each qualified candidate must fire 50 rounds from their handgun at an accuracy of at least 70%.

Armed Security Guard Training in Florida

Unlike the Class D license for unarmed security guards, in Florida requirement is that armed security guards have a Class G security guard license. In addition, you must have a certain level of training, which includes firearms training. After all requirements are met your license is issued by the State Department of Agriculture.

A license certification card is a requirement for armed security guards in Connecticut. In addition, you must be offered an armed security position with licensed security agency. It is the hiring security agency’s responsibility to submit your paperwork to the License and Firearms Unite. The license is good for five years. The Connecticut Department of Public Safety is responsible for issuing your license once all requirements are met.
